A catholic shrine to the blessed Virgin Mary beholden to the United States Province of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Built in the late 50s of the 20th century it is a go-to-place for recreation, devotion and meditation named after the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. The archictectural style is for sure different but interesting. Look at the concrete "M" which stands for Mary.
The height of the shrine is 50'. Across from the shrine a 70' high spire serves as a beacon to visitors.

Nach tristen und total verregneten Tagen in Texas ging es unter der Woche wieder hoch nach STL. Am Sonntag (gerade noch vor Sonnenuntergang) bot sich mir am Nachhauseweg von der Arbeit die einzige Gelegenheit innert zwei Wochen noch irgendwas Interessantes vor die Linse zu bekommen - und ich musste des Ding erst noch suchen. Hatte aber leider nur eine einfache Kamera dabei da meine geliebte "400" im Oktober ihren Geist aufgegeben hat ...
