Kakovoli was the first summit in my second 2015 tour on the Lefka Ori, the White Mountains of Crete, whose name this photo should explain better than my previous ones.
While the objects of the first and third tours were the gorges of Tripiti and Eligias respectively, in the middle one I avoided gorges, reaching the rocky heart of the massif via the
wonderful unpaved road, nearly 20 km long, starting from Anopoli. The last stretch of this road is fully visible in the present 360°. Moreover, due to the strategic position of Kakovoli, the whole row of summits that I was going to climb in the next hours is in sight: Askyfiotikos Soros, Agio Pnauma, Grias Soros, Mesa Soros, Svourikti, Sternes and Pachnes. Troharis and Thodori, on the other hand, were left for the following tour.
Needless to say, this sequence will plague the Betrachter for long. If anybody is interested to get a better understanding, the GPS track www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=10764457 should help.
There is scarce material here for Fernsicht addicts. Namely, the profiles of Gavdos, Kedros and Psiloritis can just be guessed: nothing comparable, indeed, wich the visibility in N.17653 or in the "symmetrical" N.17270...
