Location: Pamukkale      by: Pedrotti Alberto
Area: Turkey      Date: 03-08-2008
It is forbidden to bath inside the natural water pools of Pamukkale - the "cotton castle". However, the site is open 24 hours and at evening, as tourists return to their hotels and hence the guards retire as well, it is difficult to resist the temptation.
Although the photographic outcome may not be memorable, I hope that one can enjoy the atmosphere given by the evening light looming over the Meander valley. Behind my back there is the site of Hierapolis (see next pano). At the left margin of the field of view there is the large modern town of Denizli, from which a steep road heads inside the wide Anatolian plateau.
Midway between Pamukkale-Hierapolis and Denizli (there are emotions at every km in places like these) one still encounters Laodicaea, the seventh and last among the churches of the Apocalypse, the one to which St. John wrote: «I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm - neither hot nor cold - I am about to spit you out of my mouth».

By your own standards of where you take your great Panos, this is this like a fairground or "Jahrmarkt", i.e. a super crowded tourist destination! Excellent Pano! Cheers Augustin
