Nach dem Eingangsrätsel (vom selben Tag) soll die neue Serie selbstverständlich von vorn beginnen. Ich war nach Neapel geflogen, hatte dort im rustikalen Mietwagen-Areal am Flughafen einen nicht ganz neuen und nicht ganz unverkratzten Fiat Panda übernommen (wie sich herausstellen sollte, ideal für manche Situationen der beiden Wochen), und dann noch abends an Salerno vorbei zu einem netten Hotel am Strand bei Paestum gefahren. Abendmenü und Frühstücksbüffet waren erfreulich, und so ging es gut gelaunt sonntagmorgens an das erste Highlight, die Besichtigung der altgriechischen Tempel und der Ausgrabungen der sie umgebenden antiken Stadt. Wenn man kurz nach Öffnung auftaucht, ist es noch ruhig, schon eine Stunde später wuseln die Massen durchs Bild. Giuseppe hat hier vor zehn Jahren schon eine extremere Perspektive präsentiert - ich zeige dasselbe Motiv mit etwas mehr Abstand. Der linke Tempel (um 540 v.Chr.) ist deutlich älter als der rechte (um 450 v. Chr.). Auch wenn man schon viele antike Stätten rings ums Mittelmeer gesehen hat, ist der Erhaltungszustand dieser Tempel extrem beeindruckend.

After the opening riddle (from the same day), the new series should of course start from the beginning. I had flown to Naples, picked up a not-so-new and not entirely unscratched Fiat Panda in the rustic car hire area of the airport there (as it turned out, ideal for some situations during the two weeks), and then drove past Salerno in the evening to a nice hotel on the beach near Paestum. The evening meal and breakfast buffet were both excellent, so I set off in a good mood on Sunday morning for the first highlight, a visit to the ancient Greek temples and the excavations of the ancient city surrounding them. If you turn up shortly after opening, it's still quiet. Giuseppe has already presented a more extreme perspective here - I show the same scene from a slightly greater distance. The temple on the left (around 540 BC) is significantly older than the one on the right (around 450 BC). Even though when having seen many ancient sites around the Mediterranean, the state of preservation of these temples is extremely impressive.
