Location: Foce a Giovo      by: Giuseppe Marzulli
Area: Italy      Date: 19 June 2023
The Foce a Giovo, 1.674 meters above sea level, is the highest Apennine pass in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, now crossed by a road suitable only for off-road vehicles.
The road had historical-political motivations. In 1818 Maria Luisa di Borbone, Duchess of Lucca and Francesco IV, Duke of Modena, wanted to build a great road to cross the Apennines, in order to have a direct connection between Modena and Lucca without having to pass through the customs of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.

Comments

Again an interesting challenge, and an opportunity to explore the Apennine. I have found a very similar landscape at the border of Toscana and Emilia, but no location seems to match the picture. Cheers, Martin

In my opinion the colours include too much blue.
