Location: Passo Croce (1160 m)      by: Giuseppe Marzulli
Area: Italy      Date: 27 September 2021
Another panoramic view of the Apuan Alps, this time from Passo Croce, which can also be reached by car.
The Cervaiole cave has practically "eaten" the mountain.

After all, my thoughts were already in the Apuan Alps this summer ... but :-)
Very nice pano !

An area in Italy that I have not visited before.
I read Michelangelo apparently preferred this white crystalline marble for his sculptures.
Impressive panorama!

When Michelangelo could, he himself went to the Apuan Alps to choose the marble for his sculptures. But he did not only go to the quarry that you see, but also to others, especially closer in the Carrara area.

Moving on to less pleasant things, where now there is the Cervaiole quarry, before there was Monte Falcovaia!
The top has disappeared, "eaten" by the quarry.

Wonderful. These mountains are on my list for a number of years already and I even bought a guide book, but once again I went somewhere else... Cheers, Martin

Magnificent detail from the wild Apuan Alps ... and for me a fine reminder to my visit in 2017 ;-) !!

Cheers, Hans-Jörg
