SOLVED RIDDLE.
San Severino di Centola is a village founded in the 10th-11th century, practically unknown.
The original settlement, located upon a hill, was gradually abandoned during the end of the 19th century after the construction of a railway line. New houses were built in the valley, just below the hill but closer to the railway. Nowadays the ancient village is a ghost town and a preserved heritage, because of the conservation status of its medieval structure.

Then explain to me how you did it.

There are some steps: A little bit of knowledge about Italy, the right search term, patience and the love to solving riddles and last not least the most deciding step: A lot of luck!
Cheers Werner
your algorithm is perfect. It is very useful to have all the features you have listed. But the last step is often the most useful ;-)
Dear Christoph,
you're probably right, it wasn't impossible, as I'd thought.
Queste sono le avventure di Novi Velia.
