SOLVED RIDDLE.
Monferrato is a historical-geographical region of Piedmont.
Its territory, almost exclusively of hilly nature, stretches southwards starting from the right bank of the Po until it reaches the feet of the Ligurian Apennines.
It is famous for its wines (Barbera, Dolcetto, Grignolino and others). In Italy it is also known for a strong literary tradition.
For example, Umberto Eco, the author of "Il nome della Rosa" ("Der Name der Rose") was born in Monferrato. But I don't know if the book is known in Germany.
