It is almost unbelievable how fast the landscape changed during last decade with the arrival of wind turbines. From my location at Waterfront, I estimate about 400, perhaps even more than 500 can be seen. On this tele pano alone, which covers an angle of 64°, one can distinguish nearly a hundred, most of them in Belgium along the Ghent-Terneuzen canal zone and along the express road Antwerp-Knokke-Heist. In the Netherlands, wind mills are mostly concentrated in wind parks, like here in Sluiskil, while in Belgium they are planted rather randomly, just like their houses. As such it becomes nearly impossible to shoot a long distance pano in Belgium without a wind mill.

I made this tele pano especially to document the chaotic horizon in the direction of Ghent. Of course all industries, smokestacks, elektricity pylons and wind mills line up as we also look more or less in the direction of the canal. And in-between you can distinguish Ghent's three famous towers: St Bavo's Cathedral, Belfry and St Nicholas Church.
