This is also Hawaii!
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = The Alaka'i swamp is covering part of the mountainous flatlands in the center of Kaua'i. It is located "in the extreme N portion of Waimea River basin, drains S through tributaries of Waimea River." (geonames.usgs.gov) We started at the Pu'u o Kila lookout via the Pihea trail and connected to the Alak'i trail at the junction. After crossing one of the draining rivers we followed another ridge up into the swamp. It took us well more than an hour to get to its endpoint, the Kilohana Lookout which was of course also in the clouds as most of our way through this very, very beautiful and special "alpine bog" landscape. Right now I have nothing more to add but a final remark: When taking the pictures in the mist, I would never have dreamed that this pano-series comes out that good.
