This is a lake in the Uvs aimag, western Mongolia. The region is also called, for obvious reasons, the Lake District. As one can see, nearly nothing is to be found along the deserted shore. With two notable exceptions.
One is a thermal resort on the N side, of the flank of a hill; here there are also nearly ruined buildings of the Soviet era. There is also a source of drinkable water, with different little fountains each good for some specific illness. (Alas they are labelled in Cyrillic).
The other is an isolated cliff on the SE side, called Khetsu Khaad, famous because thousands of cormorants use to spend their summer here, before flying back to Southern China.
Note that in direction west one is convinced to follow the lake for dozens of kms. Actually we are inside a little gulf (look a Google maps) closed by a very flat tongue of land originating from the N side. The barely visible hills at the the horizion, yes, they are on the opposite (SW) side.
