Location: Vernazza / Cinque Terre / Liguria      by: Hans-Jörg Bäuerle
Area: Italy      Date: 08.10.2017
Impression from the station of Vernazza and the fascinating railway line through the Cinque Terre villages ... tunnel after tunnel along the steep Ligurian coast.

The village of Vernazza is directly below the station, and can reached on foot in five minutes. Vernazza’s original train station dating from the 1874 inauguration of the rail line, running between Sestri Levante and La Spezia, was replaced in 1959 when the route connecting the five villages in the Cinque Terre was expanded. The modern station is unique on the Ligurian coast, as it is located above street level - accessed by a flight of stairs - and on the center platform, with tracks running on either side.

A quick panorama out of 11 handheld vertical single shots, just before returning to Monterosso al Mare - I did not have much time ... train is coming :-))

Comments

I really like it and I want to explain the reason.
This pano, in my opinion, makes well the representation of the Cinque Terre, because it effectively presents some elements that characterize it: the train, the houses, the colors...
Making good the ambience of a place is not easy and Hans-Jörg has succeeded.

Außergewöhnliche Idee und großartige Umsetzung. Das spricht für eine ausgeprägte Pano-Leidenschaft ;-)

Herzliche Grüße

The idea was born while waiting for the train ;-) ...

Thanks to all ... and especially to Giuseppe, an excellent connoisseur of this region - your fine comment touched me a lot and I feel honored and confirmed to present this "atypical" backstage panorama of Vernazza - thanks so much!

Ganz tolles Bild. Aber irgendwie kommt es mir bekannt vor - hattest Du das nicht schon mal kurzzeitig gezeigt? VG Martin

Du hast doch wohl hoffentlich nicht die gelbe Linie übertreten und dich in Gefahr begeben?
