Urbino, cradle of the Renaissance, preserves an almost intact urban pattern and offers some of the most outstanding architectural and artistic masterpieces in Italy. It's hard to believe that this is the first overview of this Italian jewel.
In the Ducal Palace of Urbino there is a painting on panel, by uncertain author, in which the ideal town is depicted according to the Renaissance spirit:

The city and the painting recall the spirit of the era, the revival of the high ideals of classical art, in a few words the explosion of a new vision of the world and of history that will lead to the glories of the Italian Sixteenth Century.

My hometown Dresden is still very thankful towards Raffael, one of the many great sons of the town of Urbino.

Hard to believe that there are still white spots on the Italian map on PP.

Hi Werner, there are many other gaps to fill. But this was very significant ;-)

Thanks for your continuous efforts to fill as many Italian gaps as possible. Cheers, Martin
