Location: Entrance 1 uppermost viewpoint (540 m)      by: Jan Lindgaard Rasmussen
Area: Croatia      Date: 2017-07-07, 08:50
The Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of Croatias most famous attractions, and we didn't want to miss that. We came early, which was a good idea, since pretty soon the place was swarming with people. When we left at 11 am, the line at the entrance was +500 meters! It was quite difficult to do panos with such a crowd, but a handful was done anyway.

First we see the view from the top close to entrance 1 at the lower lakes. It was not easy to create a pano of this classic view since it is a quite narrow viewpoint, but it can do until someone does it better :-)

Pano made from 16 pics (RAW) in 2 rows, 50 mm, Canon 6D, f/8, 1/250 sek, iso-100, developed in DPP (daylight, neutral, moderate sharpness), stitched in PTGui pro, contrast, downscaling and sharpening in Irfanview.

The place is beautiful and famous and I know that making a pano is difficult. I'm not a post-production expert, but I think the rocks are too clear.

I've been to those beautiful lakes, too, but I do not remember that viewing point. Probably I was not shown it.

Unique nature there, still the same since my visit 11 years ago.

Dear Jan, is this really 16 pics? I would think this can be photographed with 2 shots?

@Mentor: Yes, it is 16 pictures in HF. 2 pictures would most likely only give a short overlap, but 3 pictures could possibly do. It would however need to be done with a very short lens mm. As you can see, I used a 50 mm, because that was my shortest lens. I have put one of the pictures on my testsite, #10164. I did 2 rows to be on the safe side, but I cropped both the sky and the bottom to get it as long as possible. This place has all the good stuf packed in a limited view, with twigs and leafs hanging in from both right and left.

@Giuseppe: from the best of my memory, this was how it looked. I have only brightened the darker parts a little.

- Nevertheless, I have made a minor reducement of the highlights. BR Jan.
