Muktinath is a village which is reached when descending from Thorong La (5416 m) in western direction down to the valley of Kali Gandaki.
Besides this Muktinath is famous for its sanctuary which conatins
Buddhist and Hindu temples.
This landscape beneath the high regions above 5000 m and more reminded me strongly of the bleak and dusty hills and mountains of central and east Anatolia. However the mighty Dhaulagiri and the glacier domes around it left no doubt where I was.
Dhampus Pass is crossed by Dhaulagiri Circiuit (expedition-like trekking ), Dhampus Peak can be reached by trekkers starting from Dhampus Pass.
The summits to the right of Dhampus Peak belong to Mustang and Dolpo.

Gigantische Dimensionen!
