Location: Sella della Marzola (1700 m)      by: Pedrotti Alberto
Area: Italy      Date: 24-10-2011
This curious standpoint puts together two scenarios that one does not see so clearly juxtaposed from anywhere else. On one side, the heart of Trentino, namely Trento and the Adige valley; on the other side, the Valsugana, stretching in direction Venezia, both geographically and historic/culturally.
The picture is taken from the saddle between the two culminating points of the Marzola, such that the south summit symbolically tears apart these two regions.
Of course the image is a companion to the one published on Alpen Panoramen, with number 21211, which has a completely different cut, and is not able to show the main town in its entirety. The present work, on the other hand, offers also a complete and unusual "portrait" of Trento: this is why I publish it here on Panorama Photo.
The point is that the mountain is so rich in trees and bushes up to the very summit ridge, that it is not possible to find a standpoint with a satisfying 360° reach deep into the valleys around.

Bravissimo!!
I like this night view and am astonished that you even marked the Duomo and the Ospitale.

Christoph: for city details the best that I have is not the mentioned Panoramio version, but this other one: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/81364306. This was the source that I used to locate the specific buildings.
However, even this version is no masterpiece! The problem, to be honest, was that I had forgotten the gloves in one bag of the bicycle. On the summit ridge the wind was rather cold and so I was more willing to be quick than to perform "perfect" photographic actions!

Thanks for the detailed labeling - there's even more to see than one would expect. Cheers, Martin

Non ci crederai, ma avevo avuto la tua stessa idea, cioè di fotografare Trento da quel punto (più o meno), ma per diversi motivi non l' avevo mai realizzata. Sono contento di vedere questa inquadratura.

Marvelously!
